Susan Sarandon NYPD word is circulating on all electronic and print mediA.

Susan Sarandon is famous around the globe for her stunning performances in movies like Thelma & louise, The Witches of Eastwick, The Client, Little Woman, and Dead Man Walking. But now Hollywood star Susan Sarandon is making headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Susan Sarandon sparks fury over NYPD post

In her tweet Sarandon questioned the actions of the New York Police Department, connecting the image of thousands of officers to a fascist regime.

The officers were gathered for the funeral of fallen colleague Jason Rivera and the text of the tweet, “I’m gonna tell my kids this is what fascism looks like,” was written over a photo of uniformed cops going down Fifth Avenue for the procession which took place a few days previously.

Sarandon also wrote: “So, if all these cops weren’t needed for CRIME that day, doesn’t that mean they aren’t needed ANY day.”

The reaction on social media and beyond was swift and, on the whole, damning. One read:

“So totally offensive in SO many ways. PLEASE feel free to NEVER call 911—EVER. My son (LA County Deputy) became a cop following his father’s footsteps –who was killed in the line of DUTY….”

“Hate instead of communcation and working toward progression,” another follower replied. “Treating people like trash instead of people greiving [sic]. Exactly what you complain about. You are being what you hate.”
